Barbara Gerard-Mitchell, Blackfeet Heritage Center & Art Gallery Artist of the Month for June 2008.

Barbara is a native of the State of Montana as well as a member of the Blackfeet Nation. Growing up in this rich environment has inspired her to paint the beauty of the land and the people that she has associated herself with throughout her lifetime. Barbara has gained her skills by studying master painters as well as attending workshops taught by renowned artists such as Tucker Smith, Paco Young, and Jack Hines, to name a few.

Devoting her time to the education of perfecting the technical skills of painting is of foremost importance. Most recently, she has graduated from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM and has received the highest honors in her graduating class and her painting has been included in the IAIA Museum Student Honors show and the Primitive Edge Gallery in Santa Fe. Her numerous awards and honors will continue to grow as she strives to enhance her career. Barbara is currently represented by galleries in Montana, California and New Mexico.
